At the latest TechEx North America event we spoke to Kieran Norton, Principal; Head of Cyber AI at Deloitte & Touche, to discuss the critical intersections of AI, security, and data governance. Drawing compelling parallels between the early adoption of cloud technologies and today’s AI rush, Kieran voiced concerns about organisations deploying AI without fully understanding the associated risks; particularly around data poisoning, biased training sets, and insufficient governance.
We also discussed that while cybersecurity isn’t new, AI introduces fresh complexities that require integrating data science with traditional security frameworks. Importantly, he notes that many enterprises remain stalled at proof-of-concept stages due to regulatory and security concerns, but there’s greater awareness now than in the early days of cloud.
